Official CBSE Physical Education curriculum (PDF)Changing Trends & Career in Physical Education
Meaning, aims and objectives; development in India after independence; changes in surfaces, equipment, wearable gear and technology; career pathways; Khelo India and Fit India.
Olympic Value Education
Olympism and the values of excellence, friendship and respect. Apply these values to fair play, teamwork and participation—not only elite competition.
Yoga
Study yoga concepts and practices in the syllabus. Learn safe procedure, purpose, benefits and contraindications as taught, and avoid forcing a pose or breath practice.
Physical Education & Sports for CWSN
Understand inclusive participation, adapted activity and the role of supportive environments for children with special needs. Focus on access, dignity and individual capability.
Physical Fitness, Wellness
Distinguish health-related fitness from skill-related fitness and connect regular activity, rest and wellbeing. Fitness is multidimensional and should be developed progressively.
Test, Measurements & Evaluation
Measurement records a result; evaluation interprets it against a purpose or criterion. Use standardised procedures, suitable tests and careful interpretation rather than treating one score as a complete measure of health.
Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology in Sports
Relate body structures and functions to movement and exercise. Connect the systems covered in class to performance, adaptation and safe participation.
Fundamentals of Kinesiology and Biomechanics in Sports
Apply movement concepts and mechanical principles to analyse technique. A useful analysis names the movement, identifies the relevant principle and explains its effect.
Psychology and Sports
Study psychological factors involved in sport and performance. Distinguish motivation, emotion and individual differences, and support claims with syllabus concepts.
Training & Doping in Sports
Understand training principles and planning. Doping undermines fair competition and can harm health; learn the syllabus concepts and rely on current recognised anti-doping sources for rules.
Practical revision
The curriculum includes practical work such as fitness-test administration, specified asana practice with benefits and contraindications, and a selected recognised sport/game record including field/equipment diagrams, rules, terminology and skills.
- Explain why a test must be valid for the quality it claims to measure.
- Apply a biomechanical idea to a movement example.
- Give two ways a sports activity can be adapted to improve inclusion.
