01

Sets

Use roster or set-builder notation. Union combines elements; intersection keeps common elements; complement is relative to a stated universal set.

02

Relations and Functions

A relation is a subset of a Cartesian product. A function assigns exactly one output to each domain element; distinguish domain, codomain and range.

03

Trigonometric Functions

Use radians consistently: 180°=π radians. The unit circle gives signs and values; sin²x+cos²x=1.

04

Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations

Write z=a+bi with i²=−1. Conjugate is a−bi and |z|²=a²+b². Separate real and imaginary parts when solving.

05

Linear Inequalities

Solve equivalent inequalities and reverse the sign only when multiplying or dividing by a negative number.

06

Permutations and Combinations

nPr counts ordered selections; nCr counts unordered selections. nCr=nPr/r!. Define whether order matters before choosing.

07

Binomial Theorem

In (a+b)^n, the general term is C(n,r)a^(n−r)b^r. Check coefficient and exponent indices.

08

Sequences and Series

AP nth term a+(n−1)d; GP nth term ar^(n−1). For a finite GP, sum=a(r^n−1)/(r−1), r≠1.

09

Straight Lines

Slope=(y₂−y₁)/(x₂−x₁). Point-slope form: y−y₁=m(x−x₁).

10

Conic Sections

Recognise a conic from standard form; identify its centre or vertex and orientation before sketching.

11

Introduction to Three-dimensional Geometry

Distance in 3D is √[(Δx)²+(Δy)²+(Δz)²]. Keep coordinates paired correctly.

12

Limits and Derivatives

A derivative is an instantaneous rate of change and tangent slope. For xⁿ, derivative is nxⁿ⁻¹.

13

Statistics

Study dispersion measures prescribed by CBSE: range, mean deviation, variance and standard deviation for grouped and ungrouped data. Interpret spread with units.

14

Probability

Events may be mutually exclusive or exhaustive. Use P(Aᶜ)=1−P(A), P(A∪B)=P(A)+P(B)−P(A∩B); define the sample space and check 0≤P(A)≤1.
