Class 11 Fine Arts / Painting · Syllabus-aligned study note

Practical · Observation, composition and portfolio

Nature and Object Study develops accurate drawing through two or three natural and geometric forms observed from a fixed point of view, using light and shade. Painting Composition develops an imaginative arrangement of human figures and a clear visual focus. Portfolio assessment records process and selected work.

  • Begin a still-life study by checking proportions and relative positions.
  • Use light direction consistently to show form and volume.
  • Plan a composition with a focal point, balanced space and deliberate colour choices.
  • Keep sketches and revisions so the portfolio shows development, not only finished pieces.

Apply and revise

Connect the key term to the unit context. Explain the relationship between the concept and an example, and use evidence or a stated condition in your answer.

Check your understanding: Define the central idea, explain it using a relevant example, and identify one limitation or condition that changes its application.

Practice

  1. Summarise the main concept in your own words.
  2. Apply it to a short real-life or classroom example and justify your reasoning.
  3. Write one question that would help you check the accuracy of your explanation.
