Curriculum structure
CBSE lists seven Class XI units and internal assessment for Applied Mathematics. This is a separate elective from Mathematics; the two chapter lists are not combined.
Verified syllabus units (7)
Numbers, Quantification and Numerical Applications
Covers binary conversion, indices and logarithms, numeration, clocks, calendars, time-work, speed-distance-time and seating arrangements. Convert units and check the result in context.
Algebra
Sets, relations, functions, sequences and series provide models for business and social-science situations. State the domain and assumptions.
Calculus
Limits and derivatives describe change. A derivative gives an instantaneous rate; preserve units and interpret what is changing.
Combinatorics and Probability
Use counting principles, permutations and combinations to build a sample space before finding probability.
Descriptive Statistics
Organise data in tables and graphs, then select a centre and spread measure suited to the question.
Basics of Financial Mathematics
Identify principal, rate, compounding interval, time and cash-flow timing before applying interest or annuity formulae.
Coordinate Geometry
Translate points and constraints into coordinate equations. Sketching helps detect sign and scale errors.
