What to learn

Create and format static webpages with the HTML elements in the CBSE syllabus. Practise text, lists, links, images, forms, tables and embedded media, then apply basic CSS properties.

Practical activity

Create a small three-page school-club site. Use headings, paragraphs, an ordered list, one image with descriptive alt text, a table, a form and internal links. Add a shared CSS rule for font, background colour, border and margins. Test every link in a browser.

Use your school’s prescribed software version and teacher instructions. Keep personal information out of public practice files.

Solved CBSE-style questions

These questions and answers are original practice written for this guide; they are not copied from past papers.

Question 1

Write the basic structure of a simple HTML page.

Use `<!doctype html>`, then `<html>`, a `<head>` containing `<title>`, and a `<body>` for visible content. Close each element in reverse order. The doctype identifies the document as HTML.

Question 2

How do `rowspan` and `colspan` change a table?

`rowspan` makes a cell extend across multiple rows. `colspan` makes it extend across multiple columns. Use them when a heading or value applies to a combined table area.

Question 3

Give two accessible practices for an image and a form.

Provide meaningful `alt` text for an informative image. Give form controls clear labels and use suitable input types; this helps people understand and operate the form.

The CBSE 2026–27 outline includes legacy presentational attributes and the font element for syllabus assessment. In new production work, prefer CSS and semantic HTML; follow the exact scope taught by your school.
